SCOOTERCROSS 2008

Saturday, August 9th

We’re getting back to our original Scootercross roots this year.  Now that we have a large yard, we’re getting our race back on!  We want to try an “obstacle course” this year, with a track in the front yard, and various pit stops and challenges that each racer will have to perform.  We can do teams, relay races, or anything else creative that we can put together!  So get your scooters out, shine ‘em up, duct tape ‘em, spray paint ‘em, get them ready!  “TEAMS” are encouraged again – which for you newcomers, is when you creative a “theme” for your scooter, and you dress accordingly.  The tackier the better of course.  Some great examples from the past include:

Team Jihad - Bret’s camel scooter, and turban helmet

Team Elsie - Scottie and Carissa’s Cow scooter, and matching T-Shirts

Team G-Money – Jen and Jason’s pimped out scooter with the sparkle green paint job, dice dangling from the headlight, and a “boombox” strapped on the back, and matching pimped out t-shirts

Team Osborne’s – John and Melissa’s bat scooter, with John dressed as Ozzie, and Melissa as Sharon.

There’s been many other great ones over the past years, but since we haven’t had a race in some time, this aspect of Scootercross has been lacking.  So we need to bring it back!  If you don’t have a scooter, go get one!  We would suggest Roger’s auction, or the back of your grandma’s garage.  But really, you don’t need a scooter to have fun at Scootercross – there’s only a few of us with them.  But you’ll be part of the super cool crowd if you have one….so think about that.

Scootercross is kid friendly.  At our new house, we have a great in ground pool that will entertain the kids.  And for those staying later, we’ll have Karaoke by Richie and Tina again – you’ll just have to pry the mic from Chris’s hands!

We’ll have food and Jungle Juice (be cautious of the fruit), but please bring a side dish and your drink of choice.  And as always, we highly encourage people to bring a tent (or crash in the house) and stay the night.
